2011 Acura TSX

The Acura TSX is acuras entry level small 4 door sedan, or a "sport wagon. it can come equiped with base or a tech package which adds navigation and a few other options. the engine choices are a 4cyl and a v6 derived from the bigger TL and MDX suv. they are made in japan and are transported by ship to the states. in Japan they are called the Accord but has a total diffrent design here in the states and has a few body changes. The one thing i highly suggest is the larger v6 engine. The smaller 4cyl just does not have enough torque for the car and unless you are looking for a classy vehicle with good gas mileage than go for the 4 cyl but if you want some fun in your acura go for the v6. The TSX was started in 2004 and has gone through one model change which is just small body changes and a few more interior options.

The tsx is a great 1 or 2 person vehicle but if you have a family go with a larger vehicle. I'am still waiting for acura to come out with a performance model or one with awd but that is yet to be produced. all in all this is a great small car which handles excelent and has a slightly lower price tag than the larger TL.~Nickel http://www.acura.com/

2012 Acura TL Review

Acura is the luxury division of Honda motors. In Japan this brand is none existant it is simply just called Honda. For example toyotas luxury division is lexus and Nissans luxury division is called Infiniti. So onto the review. I used to work at an Acura dealership, it is a very high class dealership and all that we sold was luxury vehicles Acuras of course used mercedes, lexus, porsche etc.
The 2012 Acura TL is Acuras best selling 4 door car. it has 3 models to choose from. Base, tech, and advance. The diffrences are options like navigation crash detection sensors and different wheel pacages as well as awd and fwd. The interiors are well layed out and simple to figure out. It is very user friendly. They all come standard with heated seats, power seats and sunroof. All aAcuras now come with leather interiors.
The exterior is a very bold aggressive look and its signature SHEILD grille is carried on all Acura models tsx,tl,mdx, rdx, and the top of the line RL which was called the Legend(i owned one). The engines for the Tl are a base 3.5L 280hp i-vtec v6 and the awd version can be had with a 3.7L 305hp v6 which can get to 0-60 in around 5 seconds. the starting cost is around 30k and can exceed 50k with all options installed. All in all this is a great product from Honda/Acura and i would love to own one and would definetly reccomend one to anyone who has the bills to throw down on one. here is a link to the website http://www.acura.com/ all information is from me(Nicholas Kurnik)

Dewey Decimal System

The dewey decimal system is a way of organizing books and confusing the common man. i remember back in grade school we had to learn this system and it took our whole class forever. i do remember that it runs from 000-on up to 900 i think. each number is associated with a class or catagory like medicine, environment, sports ect. Now my take on the DDC. I'm wondering why cant we just label the books by the last name and stick them in the appropriate section? it seems alot easier and it wouldnt waste so much time having to label all the books. but thats just me. Here is some history and information on the dewey decimal system. It was founded in 1876 by melvin dewey, i guess that's  why they call it the dewey decimal system. anyways it does go from numbers 000 to 900 and does have the different classifications of subjects. Im not to much of a book guy but i do think it is a way to organize books. I think they should just assign it a number and be done with it but thats just me. They can call it the nicky decimal system~Nickel

Information Content

Information Content, where do we get i and what is it? Well I depends on what we use, we have reference books, magazines, maps and others. Let's compare 2 types of informative pieces. lets's use The newspaper vs. the internet. Now the newspaper comes out either everyday or every week depending on where you are the internet is ALWAYS there and always updated dependinf on what source you use. If you want a quick answer to a news story for example a building that caught on fire today than it would most likely be on the internet on a news website. It will also be in a newspaper but you will have to wait for the information to be investigated, revised, printed and distributed. Now you will get up to the minute information via the web but it may not all be there and it could be wrong. Usually when it is printed in the newspaper it is correct. Also you must take into consideration that senior citizens or "old people" do not know how to use the computer let alone turn the computer on so the best way for them to retreive information is through the paper. Its all a personal prefrence and depends on demographics.~Nickel

Do We Value Information?

Value information...Do we. we have all sorts of places we can get information from. books, magazines, people, the list goes on and on. but how do we know if the information is correct and VALUBLE? Is the information we are using or reading valuble to us? Is the information fake or non related to what we need or is it what we need. i beleive we can distunguish this information by seeing where the information is and where it is coming from. you wouldnt go out and buy a car based on someones word saying that "hey that's a good car" we do research and pick out the good information from the bad or information that we do not like. So to sum it up its somewhat of seeing if the information we are looking at is
1. Relative to us
2. True
3. Informative
4. Helpful

Information As a Resource(information obesity)

Information ahhh, what makes us smarter information but can we have to much information? that is the question. The article that was distributed in class mentioned something called Information ObeSiTy. SOoooo i will blog it up about that today. Information to me,Nickel, is just an overwhelming amount of information givin at one time that is different and or not correct. This could be if you were typing a paper and you used MSU libraries database, google, wikipedia and your 80yr old grandpa to talk about WWII. Now you might think that this is great you have tons of information, but how do you know that your grandpa is crazy and telling you false information or that wikipedia is completly wrong...maybe your grandpa wrote on it.haha. ok but seriously its like having an overload of information. so how do you keep away from information obesity? just pick 1 or maybe 2 sources to start off with. Not just any resource but a reputable resource such as your local library or a well known published book. dont get it twisted get yo info str*~Nickel

Information Landscape @ MSU

Not until i took this class LOR ###. I had no idea how many options we had to retreive information from. I thought all we(as in students) had the library meaning books and the almighty google. As our class progressed through the semester my eyes opened so much to all the data that msu has to offer us for free, well its not totally free because we are paying an arm and leg to go here but thats another blog post... i have just recently got an assignment saying that i MUST use the library as a resource which i am very excited about doing. I feel hat i can get 100% correct information from the library's database and not have to guess and hope that the wikipedia articles are correct. I beleive this class should be mandatory for every incoming freshman, im a junior, and i beleive i could have done much better on my papers by knowing how much information we had in the library. Its the 21st century libraries are not just for books anymore, its an infinate database of awesome information, agree?~Nickel

TAGS!!!

TAG YOUR IT!. no not that type of tag. "tagging" is what i should have said, tagging a picture online or tagging a website, like my blog. This is something that we use to locate certain things on the internet. Let's say i wanted to find a picture from a long time ago of a Green 1969 camaro with a bunch of girls in red bikinis around it. ok what do you type in the search bar? green 1969 camaro... well that would just bring up a million camaros you might get lucky and find the right picture but most likely not. so you could type something like " green camaro girls red bikini." voila it worked. see whatever the picture is tagged as you have to find specific words that match the picture. It sounds confusing but its really not we just did it in class... So you need keywords and maybe some time to find out whatever your looking for. Good luck~Nickel

ACURA MDX

The Acura MDX. The new luxury foriegn suv. I have worked at an Acura dealership for over 8 months. These are the most inovative and technological vehicles i have been in, excluding the over priced, "rich mans Mercedes" BMW piece-o-crap i have ever driven, besides there overwhelming tech advances. BMW sucks!!! The Acura MDX is based off the Honda Pilot, which is a MDX in black sheeps clothing. The MDX is by far  the best mid-sized suv ever built. For the money you get the performance of Ferrari, the looks of Lamborgini, and luxury of Rolls Royce, in a 50K automobile. i have driven over 100 of these vehicles, over a distance of 500 miles. To me this is the most bang for the buck suv. i highly recomend this vehicle for any two to seven person family. Foriegn vehicles are taking over ~ Nickel

MID-LIFE CRISIS!!!!!!

Oh geez your around your 40's your kids are gone and you are having second thoughts on your career, marriage, ect of geez oh geez what ever shall you do? What is a midlife crisis? I dont know because im not 40 but i can tell you what the all mighty GOOGLE says about it and after i asked a few old people HA. ok It seems like this mid life crisis thing is attributed to ones thoughts of his "life" as a whole and what is the next thing they are going to do or buy. The first thing that comes to mind is BUY A FANCY CAR! this can go back to my forbes post about the stupid audi R8 that you shouldnt buy, but whatever. It seems that the first sign of someone going through it is buying a fancy car they don't need. Another could be attributed to "getting old" and having to buy young people stuff like dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, and other teenager type deals. Or maybe they are going bald so they buy stuff that takes away from there baldness i do not know im only 22. im half way there.-Nickel

INFORMATION LANDSCAPE (FORBES)

Ok i picked http://www.forbes.com/ (rating 4 out of 5) because it makes me feel rich and i asked "it" what was the "coolest car" for millionares right now. Before i get into answering the question the website is clean and simple. No crazy pop up ads or no extra "stuff" going on in the background or anything, just good information. It even has the stocks in the lower corner of the page! I like the search feature so you do not have to go through tons of frop down menus to find what you want and the search results you get are clear and always on forbes.com not playing off of google. I found answering this question very easy.

What is the most BALLIN'st car out now for millionares? The Audi R8, big surprise to me NOT. ever since that movie with will smith and the crazy robots came out all the rich people, and fake rich people, had to have one. I think i saw at least 3 or so over the summer while i was working at an upscale car dealership. Yes the R8 is nice and fast and i guess the girls like it but do you really want something that everyone else has? Yeah some people just want to fit in and be accepted and they buy a car to do it. When i was working over the summer we had porsches, mercedes, lexus ect at our lot and i got to drive every single one(LUCKY ME) and i have to say that being in a car that was "diffrent" was far cooler than being in a car that has now been in tons of movies and every rappers driveway-Nickel

Big Questions? THE WORLD IS ENDING AHHHHH!!!!

Big questions. How do you classify something as a big question? Why is the sky blue why can you not see air? why am i spending $30,000 to go to school? These could all be BIG questions to anyone, or they may not be to other folks. When will the world end?Although that may be scary to most it is a big question that everyone has to think about. So lets talk about that, When and Why do people think the world will end in 2012. I just watched a tv show on The History channel about people preparing for "The Apocolypse". Families had bunkers in there basements arsenals of guns and more food than a costco stock pilled up. I recall one family going through drills on how fast they could put their apocolypse gear on...crazy right? I know. But I thought to myself are these people just crazy paranoid people who beleive everything they hear? Or is the world really going to end and should i live it up for another year and get ready to have my skin burnt off my body by a nuclear attack. A bit drastic i know but WHO KNOWS? RIGHT!!! Here's a link to  a website blog to let you know how to get ready for the earth to end, i found it funny and interesting http://howtogetreadyfortheapocalypse.wordpress.com/ There are videos, checklists the list goes on and on. what type of guns you should have, how much food you should save how to can meat.... what the heck! anyways i thought it was funny so take a look. their is also a guy on youtube called survival "doc" who was on the history channel show i watched and he was a trip just type his name into youtube, you will get a def. laugh or 2 especially at his beard. What will i do? nothing. yep nothing i will sit at home and laugh while people freak out and prepare for the worst, im sure walmart and krogers will be out of milk and bread so you should probobly stock up a week before if you want cereal...Nickel

Why Do People Buy Prius'?

                                       GAS VS HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

woohoo toyota prius! its advertised to get about 50mpg and the cost of a new one is $24,520, http://www.toyota.com/  (depending on states and msrp). Now the question is, Is It Worth It? To me no. ok take a Honda civic base model which gets 35 or more mpg, now you can get one of those for $15,605 msrp according to http://www.honda.com/. Now you justify the cost diffrence which is around $9000. You next take into your annual fuel cost for each vehicle and the Honda is a better deal. You would have to keep the Prius for way longer to justify the cost over a Honda.
next is the reliability of the Prius. We have not "mastered" hybrid technology yet and you must take into consideration if that $5,000 battery in the Prius will last 10 years. The Honda has a more simple design while the Prius has more computers and other doodads than a space ship. So over the long term the Honda is by far a better buy. Now im just comparing the Honda civic because its a all gas powered economy car and the prius is its biggest rival next to the corrolla.
BUT WAIT! i still have not answered the question why do people buy them? I have heard some people say they do it for the environment when that is a false statement. the lipo battery that is in the prius is way more harmful and toxic than the carbon dioxide coming out of the Civics gas engine. case and point Honda wins for gas, reliability and saving the environment. PLUS THE PRIUS IS UGLY AS HELL!, just my opinion.... Nickel
